AP Coloring

Today my Anatomy teacher gave each of us a very simplified version of a human skeleton, which we had to cut out, color, and glue onto a sheet of construction paper. Easy points. I started laughing when I realized I did more difficult projects in Kindergarten. We're Seniors in high school and doing things that require absolutely no conscious effort. That's fine with me at 9am, when most of my effort is focused on staying awake. It just seems silly that teachers give assignments like that and expect their students to take them seriously. This particular teacher is either oblivious to the fact that her class is known as "AP Coloring", or chooses to ignore it in hopes that a new semester will bring more serious students. Sometime during the gluing process one of my classmates made a comment about her skeleton having ape arms. None of the proportions on our skeletons made sense, so we were just trying to get things in the right places. The guy next to me laughed at the girl's observation and joked that our teacher accidentally gave her the ape skeleton instead of the human one. Going along with this, we began to imagine our teacher instructing a class of apes on the skeleton assignment while they threw bananas at her. It brought us to tears because we were laughing so hard. Maybe we aren't too old for assignments like this...
